Hi, it’s Barbara.

Would you like to talk about working together?

While limited to a small number of one-on-one clients, I do always want to work with individuals who are serious about writing the book that is inside of them wanting to come out.

If you’re already a “yes,” that’s wonderful! Click here to get in touch and find a time for a conversation to explore your book ideas. It’s a free consultation and will be worthwhile, even if you don’t decide to hire me as your Coach.

VELOCITY  IS  A  FUNCTION  OF  CLARITY

Eventually, we all need a little help. Whether you’re stuck at a roadblock, at a fork in the road of life, or just need help figuring out what is next… it helps to have someone who has been there. Certain conversations are powerful, providing clarity and motivation. Creating and leading crucial conversations is my passion.

Anything is possible with proper coaching.

“I’VE BUILT A NEW PERSONAL BRAND WITH HER HELP.

Being a published author definitely sets me apart from everyone out there with just an opinion. Media or those looking for keynote speakers want someone with my expertise and background as a political science professor, but how they find me is often because they see that I am ‘the one who wrote the book.’ Barbara Dee has been a partner on several of my book projects. You won’t find another coach with her experience.”

“IT’S RARE THAT YOU COME ACROSS SOMEONE LIKE BARBARA.

There is a difference between an editor and a coach, I learned. For one thing, I wouldn’t have a manuscript to edit if not for Barbara’s encouragement and sage advice when I needed it the most. Even when I was overwhelmed with my own project, Barbara would calmly break down what needed to be done and kept me going. I can’t recommend her highly enough!”

Want to write a book? Hold Up!

Before you burn weeks and months hammering out your book, let’s get your outline reviewed and fine-tuned.

Trust me, you don’t want to end up with a 200-page snoozefest.

Woman writer

Outline Review?

I’ve had clients come to me with complete manuscripts that are trainwrecks —poorly constructed, wordy, redundant, rambling, you name it. Every single time, the root problem was a bad (or nonexistent) outline.

After one particularly confounding manuscript, I made outlines mandatory. Then I created a workbook and a 3-video training module into my Master Class, all about how to nail your nonfiction outline. You wouldn’t expect to build a great house without a great blueprint to follow, right?

I don’t want you to just fill pages. I want you to write a killer book that makes a difference and propels you to your goals—keynote speaker, influencer, you name it.

Do You Have…

A book idea but you’re clueless on what to include or leave out?
Pages that need work but you’re stuck?
A big picture but no idea how to organize your material?
I can help!

What I Offer:

  • In-Depth Critique: I’ll dig into your book idea, theme, target audience, and outline draft.
  • Practical Advice: Actionable suggestions to improve your book development plan.
  • Personal Coaching: One-on-one via phone or Zoom. We’ll get that outline crystal clear.

Why Wait for Feedback Until You Have a Draft?

In my 25 years of writing nonfiction and working as an editor and coach, I’ve found that every author—newbie or seasoned pro—needs an outline critique. It’s an early but crucial step in your book journey.

The word “critique” might make you cringe, but set the ego aside. Constructive advice from experienced eyes can make your book shine.

How It Works:

When I critique your book idea and outline, I help you clarify your topic, organize your ideas, and guide you through this critical step. Handing over your cherished book idea takes courage, but a critique can save you from veering off course.

The Outline Process:

My “Fast, Easy, Build-a-Book Master Class” covers everything about writing a nonfiction book. But if you only want help right now on your outline step, I offer one-on-one coaching with a laser focus on that. We start with a personal discussion via phone or Zoom. After your initial outline draft, I’ll give feedback, and we’ll refine it together until it’s a solid blueprint.

Why Get a Critique?

A thorough critique helps you get your book plan in shape. I want you to have a clear roadmap for your journey, leading to a book you’re proud of.

What’s Included:

Unlike many services, my critiques are grounded in years of real-world experience with first-time authors. I won’t throw a cookie-cutter solution at you. Instead, we’ll develop your outline using strategies tailored to your style and book.

How to Sign Up:

Easy! Send me an email, and I’ll respond personally. Once payment is submitted, we’ll set a time that works for you for our first consultation. Don’t worry—we’ll cover everything thoroughly, no rushing. In fact, I am so committed to seeing this important step through with you that I don’t charge by the hour. I’ll work with you until you have your outline, the clear roadmap you need.

Is My Outline Really What I Need to Focus On?

Too many writers waste years on books without compelling concepts or well-structured manuscripts. A solid outline saves time and effort. Some clients start strong with a great outline and finish confidently. Others check in with me along the way. Editing and proofing are part of the journey, but without a solid outline, you’re in for a rough ride.

What One Best-Selling Author Says:

I don’t think I could have ever finished my book without the outline help and other guidance from Barbara Dee. I knew I wanted to tell my story and help others, but I’m not a writer. I tried to fill pages, but nothing was really coming together. Once Barbara Dee helped me develop my game plan, starting with my outline, I was off and running. My book was published and in the first week after the launch, I hit #1 on Amazon!

DO YOU NEED A WRITING COACH?

Q: What does a writing coach do?

A: A writing coach helps the writer find the heart of the content, what works
and what needs work, how to carry out research, and how to frame and
organize the material. A writing coach helps the writer focus, provides an
objective perspective, and guides and encourages. A writing coach is like a
personal trainer for a writer. A writing coach is a mentor.
